What causes oxidation of oils ?
Oxidation occurs when oxygen attacks petroleum fluids, the process is accelerated by heat, light, metal catalysts and the presence of water, acids or solid contaminents. It leads to increased viscosity and deposit formation.

What is "Pressure drop" accross a filter ?
This is the resistance to flow created by the filter element media, it is defined as the difference in pressure upstream (inlet side of filter) and downstream (outlet side of filter).

What are the advantages of offline filtration ?
Very fine filtration is possible, large dirt holding capacities, water absorbtion is possible, continuous operation, independancy from the main system, low operational costs.

What is Frequency Response of a servo valve ?
This is the mathematical relationship of the output flow to input signal.

What is the null of a servo valve ?
Null is the condition when with zero electrical signal there is zero hydraulic output.

What is the phase lag of a servo valve ?
Phase lag is the measure in degrees that the output flow follows
behind the sinusoidal input signal.

What system cleanliness level do I need for a servo system ?
  NAS class 7 or better.

Transducers - What is resolution ?
The smallest change in mechanical input which produces a detectable
change in the output signal.

What is an absolute pressure transducer ?
A transducer that has an internal reference chamber sealed at or
close to zero psia (full vacuum) and normally provides increasing
output voltage for increases in pressure.

What sealing materials are compatible with Skydrol fluids ?
  Peroxide cured EPDM.

  What is a re-gen circuit ?
A circuit in which the pressurised fluid discharged from a component is returned to the system to reduce power input, on a double acting differential area cylinder, the rod end volume is directed to the full bore end to increase rod extension speed.
